Learning Objectives

  • Understand the changes in PHTA-16 2017 SOFA model-specific flow ratings: Compare the single flow rating applied to all pipe sizes under VGB-2008 with the VGBA-2017 approach, which specifies flow ratings based on pipe size, pipe opening depth, and pipe exit orientation.
  • Comprehensive Compliance Documentation: Learn how to document sump configurations, SOFA model specifications, and operational flow rates for inspections, plan reviews, and incident investigations.
  • SOFA Model Selection Criteria: Master the process of selecting VGBA-2017 compliant SOFAs that align with public pool design, operational demands, and building code requirements.
  • Inspection Best Practices: Discover strategies for verifying VGBA compliance in both new construction and existing facilities, including recognizing common installation errors.
