Presenter Bio

Lucia (Lucy) Garcia started her career with the Wage and Hour Division in 2006 as an investigator in the New Orleans District Office. Lucy gained a broad base of Wage and Hour experience by conducting investigations under the multiple laws enforced by the Wage and Hour Division. In 2011, Lucy became one of the first Community Outreach and Resource Planning Specialist (CORPS) in the United States while serving in the New Orleans District Office. In addition, Lucy has served as a CORPS in the Austin District Office from 2014 to 2018 and from 2018 to present in the Houston District Office. Lucy has received numerous Worker Protection Awards from the Secretary of Labor and has conducted over 1,450 outreach events through her career. She continues to proactively engage employers, employees, and communities to ensure they are aware of the resources available to assist them in understanding their rights and responsibilities under the laws enforced by the Wage and Hour Division.
